Halloween zombies and such

It's going to be a busy week for me, which hopefully means multiple blog posts.

On Saturday, October 30th I'm going to be at Comic Boom in Keene, New Hampshire. I'll be doing a Halloween signing of Amelia 1 through 3 as well as a new 1 dollar comic (more on that next post)!! I'll be there with Steve Bissette, Bryan Stone, who will be debuting Funny Aminals 2(I did the back cover for it), and I think some more CCSers.

After the signing we're going to go to Spooktacular V! They're screening Return of the Living Dead. More details at Saturday Fright Special. They're live horror hosting it, it's going to be awesome, they'll have prizes and a raffle. I'm donating some original art to it, check it out,

This Sunday's Family Circus was super creepy by the way.

Oh, did you guys see the Amelia pin-up Josh Rosen did for book 3? It's awesome.

I made some fan art for it.
In case you haven't seen it, here's the trailer,

Also, more fan art.
I'm a big Richard Sala fan, so here's some fan art. This is a sketchbook scribble of a Peculia panel.
I'll post more sketches soon

Post SPX Post 2010

So SPX is over. It was tons of fun. I saw some old friends who I've missed. Got some real good comics. Played free pin-ball at my cousin's house and drank their beer. Over all a good time.
Here's me at the table with my books and my Nerdlinger I got it for Best Character in Fishnets: Amelia
Denis St. John and Nerdlinger Award!
Picture provided by Jen Vaughn.
My table mates were Holly Foltz, Tim Stout, and G.P. Bonesteel.
I also drove down with Keny Widjaja, Holly, and David Yoder

I haven't read all the books I got yet, but so far I'm really digging them, maybe I'll write more about them later.
But now it's back to the "real world".

That's Saturday and Sunday. I'll be at table G-14 with several other very good cartoonists.
But on Friday I'll be in Baltimore for the Nerdlingers where I'll be receiving something or another.
If you're in the area come and see me!

Amelia 3 cover finished

So here's one of the finished covers from the new Monsters and Girls.
First I screen printed the cover,
which I hadn't done in a long time. I used a green paper and a blue paper.
screen print
Then I printed the eyes on label paper and cut them out with an exacto knife,
cover eye
Then I stuck 'em together. I think it looks good, here's the other color,
So, I still have to print the guts, I'm waiting on some fan art first (if anyone out there has any they want to send my way...)
Have I mentioned yet I have a new roommate?

It'll be a sticker, the veiny background stuff will be screen-printed. I'm working on that now.

Some new samples from Chapter Nine.
A penciled panel.
Amelia cruising around in her bad-ass car.

Also, not Amelia related, but a panel from Thimble Theater that I really like.

Unreachable Breasts

My friend and fellow cartoonist Nick Patten has a new blog.
It's got dirty drawings!
I made a drawing for him,
Unreachable Breasts
Check them out, they're not safe for work!

Yesterday I helped teach a character design class with Steve Bissette for the CCS summer workshops.
I used Popeye as an example, since he's awesome. Here's some pictures I used.

Chapter Nine promos

Here's from finished inks from Amelia Chapter Nine.
A new character, who just happens to look a little bit like one of my old roommates. He's in it for all of 4 panels.
Amelia's a little hesitant to try that door.
Amelia getting back into her car, more on the car later. I might do a whole post about that, someone remind me later.
Amelia is startled by the mirror
Amelia thinking, with dark lines on her face.

I've been pretty happy about these new pages, I've been putting a lot more lines on the page and really liking that.

More more sketchbook again again

Okay, so I was over at Bryan's house for a drink n' draw,

Kevin Uehlein and I went on a crazy mid-90s X-Man rant, which led to me drawing these,

Then José-Luis Olivares inked my pencils for this drawing,

That same day I drew these funny aminals,

Later in the week I watched Alien 3 with Nick Patten and drew these,
