sketches and identification
I went to Dr. Sketchy's in White River this last Wednesday. The models were dressed in anime styles, here's some drawing from it.
ALSO!
I became an Official Friend of Oily Comics
and got this sweet membership card. Here it is next to my other membership card I'm really proud of,
Also, I found myself drawing Sammy today so I thought I'd share, since I haven't drawn him since Amelia finished. I kind of miss that guy,
Here's another Dr. Sketchy's drawing,

Stephen Bissette art!!
All around awesome guy Steve Bissette has done amazing portraits of two of my main characters.
Steve knew who I was drawing influence from. So heres Vincent Price as The Mustache Man and Peter Lorre as Sammy.
See, that's why Steve is awesome. Anyone could have figured out that the Mustache Man looks a lot like Vincent Price, but who else would have figured out that Sammy was drawn from Peter Lorre. I actually have old sketchbook drawings from before Sammy appeared in the comic where I was trying to figure out his look and he was much more Peter Lorre then. Before I added the Nosferatu influence to him.
These sweet drawings are available inside the pages of Amelia parts 4 and 5, both will be at MoCCA this weekend.

more Chapter 12 Samples
I'm about half way through the drawing of Amelia part 5, which is going to be over 60 pages of comics.
As you may have noticed, Amelia Part 4 isn't on sale online yet. I'm trying to figure out what to do about that, and Amelia and Monsters and Girls sales in general, and will let you know about that. So keep watching for more info on that. You can also go to my flickr page to see another sample from Chapter 12 that isn't getting posted here, you'll need to be logger onto flickr to be able to see it.

Chapter 11 samples
some more panels from Chapter 11.
Hypno-dancing

just decided to color a panel for the heck of it. I used much the same colors on Amelia that Colleen Frakes chose for her Amelia drawing. I had never picked the colors for her outfit, I like what Colleen picked. I'm definitely not an awesome colorist.

book four will debut at the Dark Carnival Film Fest!

Dark Corners
A few years ago now I made a Sammy spin-off story for Dark corners, it got reviewed HERE if you need a refresher.
Well I'm probably not going to reprint the story any time in the near future, so here's some panels from it.

Young Sammy upside down vomiting.

Young Sammy having some pretty viscous hallucinatings

Sammy looking more like the kid we know now.

pin-ups and bones
Just some old stuff I haven't posted before.
First a picture of Sammy being scared of bones.

These bones are from a church in Prague, they had so many plague bodies they made art out of them.
Next is a picture is an Amelia pin-up. I use a variation of this image for the title page on Amelia 3.

it's a bit dirty, maybe you shouldn't look at this on a work computer.
just a reminder, Amelia 3 is available Here!

S.P.A.C.E. in a week
Hey folks,
As you may know I'm headed to Columbus, Ohio, next weekend for the comic con, S.P.A.C.E.
I'm not done with Amelia part 3 yet, but I'm close enough to put together a con-exclusive preview of it.
Here's the cover,

For the finished part 3 this image will probably be used as the interior front cover.

Chapter 7 previews
These are photographs of some panels from chapter 7. Out of context I don't think there's anything spoilery in them.
I switched my art supplies, having gained confidence with the brush I am using that instead of the nib for my characters.

Sammy with a face full of shame.

Sammy being treated like the little brother he is.
I'll post more tomorrow.
Also, went to a giant book sale yesterday and got some good looking stuff. Including a VHS copy of Creepers

which is the american release of Phenomena, directed by Dario Argento, starring Jennifer Connelly, I haven't seen it yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
