New Banner

I made this to be the "cover" for my facebook page. It's too big though, so it's cropped so you just see "Denis St. John's" on the page, but then underneath it it says "Monsters and Girls" since that's the name of the page, so I think it works.
The image is from Amelia part 5, coming out at MoCCA!

Vampirella Page

It was quite a challenge to put that many words on a page. In 6 panels they say Vampirella 6 times!

Gary Friedrich skull shirt!!!

I penciled this skull and then it was inked by Steve Bissette! It's now a skull on a t-shirt that's being sold as a fundraiser for Gary Friedrich! Go check out the tshirt and buy it HERE!

Women in Horror Month

So February is Women in Horror Month
and as the month comes to a close I want to give some appreciation to my frequent horror collaborator, Jess Abston.
Anyone who frequents my blog or my flickr page that doesn't know Jess personally will certainly recognize her.

Jess also co-hosted Atomic Age Cinema night at the Main Street Museum a few years ago, as Daisy Dead. She came up with some of the best gags of the night, including a pitch for vegan brains, so you can keep that ghoulish figure.

Jess also collaborated with the Nymphonomena crew, details on that have yet to be revealed...

Jess has always been totally unafraid to put herself out there, whether it's screaming at the top of your lungs to an audience that doesn't know it's coming, posing for frightening pictures, or dealing with my squid wrangling.
she now owns and operates Who is Sylvia in Woodstock Vermont. A store I highly recommend you visiting if you're ever in Woodstock.

chapter 13

20 some pages into the final Chapter. I can feel the end drawing neer.

I'm still in DC/Maryland, for another day. I went to the Smithsonian today, drew some dinosaurs and looked at some arts.

public domain "superhero"

So a little while ago I did a couple illustrations for John Rovnack's Panel to Panel.
The idea was to update a public domain golden age character.
Here's the Original Madame Satan,
and here's my version,

The concept for her character is that she was an evil woman who poisoned her husband but was then killed by him, and in hell she marries satan and goes back up to seduce men into hell, and then reveals her skull face.
As you can see I pretty much kept the original concept and color scheme. Her Satan was really boring and generic so I made him a little more goat like, or Rosemary's Baby like. I also added skeleton hands and put her in a teddy instead of an evening gown.

These bones are from a church in Prague, they had so many plague bodies they made art out of them.

Next is a picture is an Amelia pin-up. I use a variation of this image for the title page on Amelia 3.

Curt Purcell, over at The Groovy Age of Horror is asking artists for drawings for a virtual sketchbook since he himself is not going to cons to get drawings in person.
