Portland was fun last weekend. Mecaf was real nice. It was on the water. I like that I could stare at boats from my table. Tabling with Werewolf was fun. check out Colleen's Flickr page for photos of the event, including Jon Chad and me we a Sasquatch!

Graduation and Eyes

This last weekend The Center for Cartoon Studies class of 2011 graduated! Congratulations to all of them, Josh Kramer, graduate, is doing a review of the thesis of all the grads HERE!

This coming weekend I'm going to be at MeCAF at the Werewolf table. There will be two new wolf books. I have a new short comic in Werewolf IV. WOLVES!!!

I won't have any new books but I'll be there with Amelia 1 through 3.

Free Comic Book Day!

If you're in the Upper Valley tomorrow you should go to Newbury Comics. A ton of cartoonists are going to be there for Free Comic Book Day!
I'll be there from 12 to 2 with my Werewolf mini and maybe a couple issues of Amelia.
We'll also be drawing and stuff.

Big Read and Werewolves

So a couple weeks ago I was touring around Vermont teaching comics for Vermont's Big Read
It was a cool experience, in one week I toured about 5 high schools and saw many classrooms. The idea was that all the kids read The Things They Carried and then wrote monologues based on the idea of truthfulness, and then I came in and taught them how to make the monologues into comics. It was a pretty crazy week, and then since then I helped edit a book that's going to be printed today of some of the selected comics and monologues. I haven't seen the book yet, but I'm excited about it.
For that I also taught the same lesson over CATV, so people can learn at home, and I happen to have the video of that right here. You can watch me be super nervous in front of a camera,


Okay, wow that was embarrassing.
I've also been working on comics, Amelia of course, but also a new Werewolf Comic.
It's called Mangia La Mia Carne a.k.a Eat My Flesh and it's going to be in WEREWOLF !V (4). Which is debuting at MeCaf this year in a couple weeks. I'll be there also.
Anyway, the comic is super crazy, maybe my most disturbing comic to date. for now here are a couple samples.

Jim Linderman over at the Vintage Sleaze is doing this "Contemporary Vintage Sleaze" series, where cartoonists are doing gag comics or illustrations for his site.

BatGirl Pin-Up

So why am I doing these pin-up drawings?
kind of just for fun, also I'm going to MoCCA this year and I think I'm going to put out a small book of fan art pin-up.

public domain "superhero"

So a little while ago I did a couple illustrations for John Rovnack's Panel to Panel.
The idea was to update a public domain golden age character.
Here's the Original Madame Satan,
and here's my version,

The concept for her character is that she was an evil woman who poisoned her husband but was then killed by him, and in hell she marries satan and goes back up to seduce men into hell, and then reveals her skull face.
As you can see I pretty much kept the original concept and color scheme. Her Satan was really boring and generic so I made him a little more goat like, or Rosemary's Baby like. I also added skeleton hands and put her in a teddy instead of an evening gown.
