Stroll down Memory Street

a couple things.

I finally uploaded my pictures from A.P.E., I only took a few before my camera died, check out the table,
A.P.E.

you can see the rest here.

Also, I took some pictures of gifts from Atomic Age Cinema, my old stomping grounds. I'm going to post one a week for a while. They were put together mostly by my friend, John Landis. Here's the first one,
Be an Atom Age Vampire
we gave this out with Atom Age Vampire
It's an atomic fireball and glow in the dark teeth.
On the back it reads:
Make Anyone do Anything
You mentally command with your mind alone!
Silently command, control, dominate any one. Say nothing, watch even perfect strangers do what you wish willingly and cheerfully. Absolutely uncanny! Awe inspiring details revealed in SUCCESP Manual Review Folio. Send only $3

New Review Up

Curt Purcell over at The Groovy Age of Horror just gave Amelia a pretty nice review. I forget how I found the groovy age blog, but I've been checking it out for a while now, it has some really cool reviews and looks at old fumetti, novels, and other assorted horror comics. His review of my comic was really pretty cool, making a comic as ...odd as mine is, I sometimes fear sending it out to people, but Curt seemed to get it.

The review is here!

Mardi Gras

You're invited!
mardigras09colour copy
Every year since moving from new Orleans in 1996 my parents have thrown a Mardi Gras party and every year I make the invites. This is the 09, Mardi Gras in Ann Arbor poster. For this version I've removed my parent's address and phone number, not that you'd abuse it.

Oh, this is apparently post number 100. woo.

Happy New Years!

Denis St. John profile
There it is, my first drawing of 2009, started it yesterday, finished it today. It's my new avatar for I Know Joe Kimpel, and will probably change my picture on this with it also. It was done with brush and ink. Then I took the cover of Monsters and Girls: Amelia number 1 and laid it under my face. Originally I was going to color my face differently, but then I thought it looked like my face was growing out of the texture. Which kind of makes sense, in a weird way, with the reality of my story.

So anyway, New Years Eve was fun, Sean Ford and Alex Kim were back in town, it was fun to see them. Now it's time to get back to life. I have a few new years resolutions, but the most important one is to double up my pages in 2009. I drew 42 finished comic pages in 2008, and I'm going to draw 84 in 2009.

Happy Holidays!

Hey all,
I'm in Silver Springs, MD for christmas, staying with my cousin Suzie and her husband Steve. I'm having a good time, Steve brews beer and I've been helping him empty a keg so he can start brewing something new. It's hard work, but as a good guest I do what I can.

I did this illustration as a submission for SuperGrrrl Adventure Comix 2 a zine put together partially by CCS freshman Jen Vaughn.
SuperGrrrl meets Mustache Man click on it to go to my flickr page and see it embiggened.
The character SuperGrrrl is (c) Rachel Edidin and Jen Vaughn. And the Mustache Man is my character, so I hold the copyright on him. This is his first appearance outside of Monsters and Girls: Amelia. Line art was done with brush and ink and color was done on photoshop.

Reviewed on Sequart

Early this month I, and a few other CCSers got reviewed by Rob Clough on Sequart.org. The reason I haven't posted about it yet is that since then sequart has been down. I don't know what happened to Sequart, and I hope it comes back online soon! So in the meantime, thanks to fellow review buddy Penina Gal, I can link to the cached version of the site. Here!

Thanks Rob, and just so I don't have a post without a picture, here you go.
Amelia Poster 2
Have I shown this picture before?

Anyway, it's a nice review, I think Rob "got" my comic.
